When lifting you suspension, the vehicle's caster and radius arm angle are changed.

Evolution drop boxes are designed to bring the arm and caster geometry back to standard.

  • Ensures vehicle drives and 'tracks' correctly

The drop boxed drop the rear of the radius arm by 100mm, ideally suited to 4" lifts, however can be used on 3-5" lifts as well, on lifts above 5" they can be used in conjunction with caster bushes to further increase caster angle.

Evolution drop boxes are slotted to allow the factory bush support washer to be fitted without modification and still allow a full range of motion.

 

When any suspension lift is fitted the pivot bushes are preloaded. This will cause premature wear of the bushes and limit suspension droop that is a desirable factor when fitting long travel suspension. Drop boxes eliminates the preload on the rubber bushes releasing increase suspension travel and increasing pivot bush life.

When raised suspension has been fitted radius arms are pointing downward. When you hit a bump and the front axle need to go up and forward, the forward movement is what contributes to the ride harshness, by levelling the radius arm the up travel and rearward movement of the front axle allows the axle/wheels to better follow the track surface increasing occupant comfort and increasing traction.

The Drop Box is fitted between the gearbox cross member and the chassis lowering the cross member by 8mm. Spacing the cross member is a common modification when lifted suspension has been fitted and drive line angles need to be corrected.
