In single motor winches, original
brake shafts have been known to fail under serious winching situations,
particularly if you upgrade the motor to a Warn 6Hp XP motor, (a common
upgrade).
Designed to maximize strength and
handle the additional torque applied through upgraded motors. Shafts are made
from EN36 grade steel to maximize strength & stop breakage.
The brake shaft kit includes shims
to support the lower gearbox housing gears and eliminating tooth breakage,
through improving tooth contact.
The factory circlip at the end of
the shaft has been replaced with an end cap and ½ inch UNF bolt, ensuring
correct brake function at all times and eliminating any chance of the circlip
jumping of the brake shaft under extreme loads.
The bearing surfaces have been manufactured to high
tolerances, giving unsurpassed reliability. This shaft kit has been developed to
give the serious Warn 8274 user the strength and reliability required in today's
competition and extreme winch situations. This kit has five advantages over the
standard item:
* Increased material strength.
* Bolted end cap replaces brake end circlip.
* Enlarged bearing surfaces to spread load evenly.
* Deletion of retaining plate groove giving maximum
shaft strength.
* Shimming of gears reducing gear tooth breakage of
the splined cams.
